2020 SBS Gayo Daejun to be fully pre-recorded; stars BTS, TWICE, GOT7 and more

The first-ever SBS Gayo with entirely 100% pre-recorded performances!

For the first time in history, SBS’ Gayo Daejun will not have audiences at gargantuan domes cheering on their favorite idols. The event will not be broadcasted live as well.

The annual music affair will be pre-recorded “for safety reasons”, show organizers confirmed earlier today.

The decision was made after local authorities’ response to the spike in the COVID-19 cases in South Korea by raising social distancing to “Level 2.5”, the second-highest in the country’s five-tier COVID-19 alert system. The social distancing “Level 2.5” implementation prohibits gatherings with 50 or more people and indoor concert venues will be forced to close.

This year’s edition of the SBS music festival is titled “The Wonder Year” and will be run by three emcees — Super Junior’s Heechul, APRIL’s Naeun and entertainer Boom.

The festival, which was initially slated to be held in Daegu, will also see a star-studded lineup of celebrities. Grammy-nominated septet BTS were amongst the few acts who were confirmed attendees.

Other acts who will be playing at the music festival tomorrow include: TWICE, SEVENTEEN, GOT7, MONSTA X, MAMAMOO, Jessi, NU’EST, GFRIEND, Oh My Girl, IZ*ONE, THE BOYZ, Stray Kids, (G)I-DLE, ATEEZ, ITZY, TXT, APRIL, MOMOLAND, CRAVITY, TREASURE, aespa and ENHYPEN.

MOMOLAND’s labelmate, T1419, will also be performing tomorrow even though the nine-membered boy band will only make their official debut on Jan 11, Korean media outlet Chosun Ilbo exclusively reported.

SBS Gayo Daejun 2020 will still go on broadcast tomorrow (25 Dec) at 7.30PM KST. HallyuLife will be providing live updates on the music festival as it happens tomorrow. Stay tuned! -HallyuLife.com
