Baekhyun’s “Essence of Reverie” is finally here! Uncover the hidden meanings, personal stories, and fan-inspired moments woven into his latest album. Plus, get the inside scoop on why “Late Night Calls” holds a special place in his heart.
Baekhyun, also known for his nickname “Genius Idol, has just released his new album, “Essence of Reverie“. This is his fifth mini-album and comes after his last one in September 2024 “Hello, World”. Fans are super excited to hear the new songs and experience the special style only Baekhyun can bring.
“Essence of Reverie” is all about Baekhyun exploring his feelings and standing between what’s real and what he dreams about. It looks at the different emotions he wants to show, especially balancing the “Baekhyun” that people imagine and the true “Baekhyun” inside.
What’s really cool about this album is that Baekhyun himself helped write the words for the songs and even worked on the music for some of them. This shows how much he’s grown as a musician and adds a lot of honest feeling to the album. It makes the music even more personal and special for Eris (a nickname he made for EXO-Ls).
Let’s take a closer look at the songs on “Essence of Reverie”:
This song gives off an exciting R&B vibe with cool keyboard and guitar sounds. It compares love to chocolate — sweet, a little bitter sometimes, and full of different flavors. He sings about being drawn to someone who surprises him and makes his heart melt, just like chocolate. There’s a mix of curiosity, attraction, and a wish to know everything about this person. The feelings shift between sweet moments and a bit of mystery, making the whole experience feel exciting and even a little addicting.
This track is about wanting to get closer to someone special, like taking an elevator straight up to their heart and mind. The song revolves around the idea of wanting to take a chance, get past any walls, and reach deeper feelings, almost like saying “I love you” as they go up. It’s about moving higher and higher emotionally, wanting to know everything about that person and be the one they trust the most.
This song is about a sweet and special love that feels as refreshing as lemonade. The singer talks about how this love brings happiness and memories, even if some moments are now in the past. He misses that feeling and the person, hoping to experience that joy again. The song captures the mix of sweet and sour emotions you find in love, giving off a dreamy, nostalgic feeling.
Baekhyun has a special tip for this one: make sure you play this track while watching the “Chungking Express” video! He actually made this song while working on that video for his previous solo concert “Lonsdaleite”. It’s a song that explores feelings of love finding its way back.
This song was made by taking all the comforting words EXO-Ls often told Baekhyun when he needed strength the most. It has a chill and easygoing vibe, offering a sense of comfort and reassurance.
“Black Dreams” is a phrase Baekhyun has been saying in his goodnight messages to fans for years! It’s a real wish for his beloved Eris to sleep well without any bad dreams. Now, he’s put that heartfelt wish into a song on his latest album.
This is the song Baekhyun loved the most on the album and feels most connected to because it’s truly for his fans. It was actually the very first song that got the whole album process started! He shared that it captures the feeling of doing late-night live broadcasts, like when he talks with fans from his car after vocal lessons – that quiet, personal vibe. He explained it was inspired by the little things he says at the end of his lives, like “sleep well” or “you worked hard today,” and he wanted to turn those messages into a song for everyone. Recording this song was really tough for him because he’s been singing with powerful high notes for a while, and going back to a softer, more gentle high note was quite challenging after so long.
Beyond the music, fans are also excited about Kkuru Jam, Baekhyun’s new small plushie keychain! This adorable new merchandise item has quickly become a fan favorite, adding another cute way for Eris to connect with Baekhyun’s world.
Through all the different songs and emotions in “Essence of Reverie,” Baekhyun wants to share more of his unique musical world. His journey as an artist keeps growing, pushing what he can express even further.
So, go ahead and dive into “Essence of Reverie.” You’ll find a collection of songs that are not just music, but a piece of Baekhyun’s heart, made especially for his fans to enjoy and connect with.
